Spend the ANZAC long weekend exploring New Zealand's most beautiful bay. The Bay of Islands boasts over 2,000 hours of sunshine per year, 144 islands, dolphins, and some of New Zealand's most significant historical sites. This 3-day tour takes you to Cape Reinga -the northernmost tip of New Zealand -across the famous 90 Mile Beach, and through ancient Kauri forests that predate European settlement.

Perfect for high school groups (ages 14-8), this tour combines adventure, culture, and natural beauty, with experienced tour leaders managing every detail so you can focus on making memories.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 Auckland Kauri Forest Paihia
8:00 am

Depart Auckland

Depart from 26 Princes Street, Grafton, Auckland. Head north through the scenic Northland region.

800-Year-Old Kauri Tree -Native Bush Walk

Walk through ancient Northland bush to see a magnificent 800-year-old Kauri tree. These giants of the forest are taonga (treasures) to Mori and were once the backbone of NZ's timber industry.

Hundertwasser Toilet -Kawakawa

Stop at the internationally famous Hundertwasser public toilet in Kawakawa -one of New Zealand's most visited and photographed buildings, designed by renowned Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

Arrive Paihia -Check In

Arrive at your shared accommodation in Paihia, the heart of the Bay of Islands. Settle in and explore the waterfront township.

Day 2 Cape Reinga & 90 Mile Beach

Cape Reinga Lighthouse

Stand at the spiritual tip of New Zealand where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean. In Mori tradition, this is where souls depart on their journey to the afterlife. Stunning 360 views and photo opportunities.

Sandboarding -Te Paki Sand Dunes

Ride down massive ancient sand dunes on bodyboards! The Te Paki Sand Dunes are among New Zealand's most exhilarating natural attractions -up to 150 metres high.

Lunch at Tapotupotu Bay (Included)

Picnic lunch at beautiful Tapotupotu Bay -one of Northland's most remote and unspoiled beaches. Crystal clear water and white sand.

90 Mile Beach

Drive along 90 Mile Beach -one of New Zealand's most iconic stretches of coastline. Marvel at the endless horizon of the Tasman Sea.

Return to Paihia -Dinner (Included)

Return to your accommodation. Dinner provided. Optional evening activities available.

Day 3 Russell & Return to Auckland
8:00 am

Final morning breakfast at your Paihia lodge before checking out.

Ferry to Russell

Take the ferry across to Russell (Kororareka) -New Zealand's first European settlement and a fascinating glimpse into colonial history. Walk to Flagstaff Hill for panoramic bay views, and explore the historic waterfront and Christ Church (NZ's oldest church).

Optional Activities in Paihia

Parasailing, dolphin watching, Hole in the Rock cruise, sailing, evening kayak -all available at extra cost. Or simply enjoy Paihia beach and township.

Depart Paihia for Auckland

Depart from Paihia Information Centre for the drive back to Auckland.

Arrive Auckland

Drop-off at 26 Princes Street, Grafton, Auckland. Tour concludes.
